About

A note on teaching.

Hi! I'm Katrina, a pianist with thirteen years of playing behind me and a genuine love for teaching the instrument.

I'm a Music Industry Studies major at CSU Northridge, a National Guild of Piano Teachers diploma holder, and a piano teacher at Sweet Music Piano Studio in Chatsworth. I'm accepting a limited number of private students across the San Fernando Valley.

My approach is patient and personalized. Every student is different, and lesson plans should reflect that. Whether you're a young beginner curious about the keys, an adult coming back to the instrument after years away, or a serious student preparing for Certificate of Merit evaluations, recitals, or competitions, I'll meet you where you are.

Curriculum

Foundations
Note reading, technique, rhythm, and posture for new students of any age.
Repertoire
Classical, contemporary, pop, and jazz selections, matched to your level and what you want to play.
Certificate of Merit prep
Structured preparation for CM evaluations, including technique, scales, theory, and performance pieces.
Recital & competition prep
Building polished performance pieces and onstage confidence.
Theory & ear training
Woven into every lesson, not taught as a separate chore.
Songwriting & production basics
For older students with industry curiosity, drawing on my music industry coursework and internship experience.

How lessons work

In-home lessons
I come to you, across the San Fernando Valley. Travel fees are case-by-case based on distance.
Online lessons
Via Zoom, for students outside the area or with tighter schedules.
Lesson lengths
30, 45, or 60 minute lessons, usually weekly. We can adjust as your needs change.

Students ranging from elementary age through adult, beginners through advanced.

The sweet spot for most students. Time to warm up, work, and play.

Best for intermediate and advanced students, CM prep, and competition work.

Monthly packages available for students booking four weekly lessons at once, with a small discount. Travel fees for in-home lessons are calculated case-by-case based on distance. Reach out for a personalized quote.
